Darren was until recently an executive director of J Sainsbury plc.  He was its Group Development Director from July 2010 until he stepped down from the board and was its Chief Financial Officer from 2005 to 2010.  He remains the chairman of Sainsbury's Bank plc.  He was the Group Finance Director of Carpetright between 2002 and 2005, and prior to that was the Finance Director of Superdrug Stores plc.  Between 1988 and 2000 he held a number of financial and operational roles at Arcadia plc.  He is also a non-executive director of Ladbrokes plc.
